Amanda’s Legal App Picks of the Week

Amanda’s Legal App Picks of the Week

With extremely busy schedules, we are all constantly looking for ways to maximize our time and productivity.  We at EGCR would like to suggest a couple of apps improve managing the daily grind.

Document Sharing, Editing, and Storing

Dropbox

Dropbox offers flexibility and reliability for those who are always on the go.  Compatible with both Android and IOS, the main feature that Dropbox can brag about is the ability to upload files on the go – including photos, videos and word documents.  All files will automatically sync to all of your devices for use at home or on the go.

Dropbox also allows the user to create shared folders and files with other Dropbox users.  It is a great resource for sharing large files or if you just want a more secure way of sending a document rather than using email.  Users can edit or add documents without all the email back and forth while tracking when a shared file is updated.  Files can also be made available offline for those pesky times when there is limited internet access.

Overall, Dropbox is free to join but they offer two paid subscriptions: The Pro tier for $8.25/month, which provides you 1 TB of storage space and their Business tier for $12.50 per a user/month, which provides unlimited storage space. Dropbox also offers an Enterprise tier, but you must contact their office for pricing since it varies. (TIP: You can join in for free, invite others to sign up, the more people you get to join, the more space you receive in exchange).

Quick Research and Reference

FastCase

While Dropbox is your storage and file transfer savior, the other app we suggest to make life more streamlined is FastCase.  This app features the ability to quickly reference or research on legal topics at anytime and anywhere. Its library availability is not only limited to a Federal level, but it also expands on a state level including online cases, court rules, various publications, and state administrative regulation codes. To further enhance one’s research, this app includes the capability of obtaining visual results.

FastCase is available on two price tiers. The first tier is Appelate subscription at $65.00/month or $695.00/year or you can subscribe to their Premium tier at the price of $95.00/month or $995.00/year.

At the end of the day, both apps are incredibly useful and reliable; you can’t go wrong with either.
