The 26th Amendment proposed lowering the age for voting from 21 years old to 18 years old. This Amendment was passed unanimously by the Senate on March 10th, 1971. On March 23rd, 1971, the 26th Amendment was passed by the house and was forward for ratification within the states themselves.
The 26th Amendment, experienced the shortest period of time in U.S. History, which was shy over two months, to meet the ¾ requirement to be passed.
